Grace: It's Our Way of Life

As Episcopal Christians we
Worship at home daily and together weekly;
Study the Scriptures, our tradition, and what it means to be a disciple today;
Serve our families, our parish, and our world in the name of Christ.

Everything we do is done with an ethic of Welcome
because we are only here by Grace.

Go and Be the People of God - Sermon, Proper 21, Year A, 28 September 2014

The Very Rev. Daniel P. Richards goes poking at the idea of being a recipient rather than a participant: in marriage, childhood, and church.  Are you participating in the Kingdom of God or are you just here to receive salvation or good feelings?  Are you waiting on water from some leader, or are you bringing a well of living water as Christ promised? Are you participating in the community?

Because we belong to a community, the Rev. goes on to say bluntly there is a way to live as a Christian that does not include being a jerk on Facebook.  We are to love, heal, and forgive.

Exodus 17:1-7
Psalm 78:1-4, 12-16
Philippians 2:1-13
Matthew 21:23-32

The Collect

O God, you declare your almighty power chiefly in showing mercy and pity: Grant us the fullness of your grace, that we, running to obtain your promises, may become partakers of your heavenly treasure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
