Grace: It's Our Way of Life

As Episcopal Christians we
Worship at home daily and together weekly;
Study the Scriptures, our tradition, and what it means to be a disciple today;
Serve our families, our parish, and our world in the name of Christ.

Everything we do is done with an ethic of Welcome
because we are only here by Grace.

Sermon, Second Sunday of Lent, Year A, 16 March 2014 - Bringing Questions in the Night to Christ's Light

Sermon on coming to Jesus as a human being, an ἄνθρωπος, with our questions and choosing to go out into the world bearing the light we find in Christ.  We find ourselves moved from our concern for salvation to the love and salvation of the whole cosmos, if we will only trust him, and allow ourselves to be born again of the Spirit.

This is followed by our acclamation of faith from Philippians 3 and the welcome to the table sermonette.  These are often requested to be posted but forgotten, so here they are.

*A reminder that stories about people are often cobbled together to obscure the people being talked about.

Genesis 12:1-4a
Romans 4:1-5, 13-17
John 3:1-17
Psalm 121

The Collect
O God, whose glory it is always to have mercy: Be gracious to all who have gone astray from your ways, and bring them again with penitent hearts and steadfast faith to embrace and hold fast the unchangeable truth of your Word, Jesus Christ your Son; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
