Grace: It's Our Way of Life

As Episcopal Christians we
Worship at home daily and together weekly;
Study the Scriptures, our tradition, and what it means to be a disciple today;
Serve our families, our parish, and our world in the name of Christ.

Everything we do is done with an ethic of Welcome
because we are only here by Grace.

Sermon, Christmas II 8am 5 January 2014 - Giving up everything for Love for Unfettered Presence

Sermon on how Joseph's letting go of everything to follow the call of God in his dreams may offer us a way to understand our call as Christians to let go of everything that keeps us from loving God and our neighbor as ourselves, especially seen through the lens of getting older.  It asks "What if our getting older is Wisdom's way of getting us to let go of all that keeps us distracted from unfettered presence and self-sacrificial charity?"  How can we practice being present to God and each other this week?

Jeremiah 31:7-14
Ephesians 1:3-6,15-19a
Matthew 2:13-15,19-23

Psalm 84 or 84:1-8

The Collect
O God, who wonderfully created, and yet more wonderfully restored, the dignity of human nature: Grant that we may share the divine life of him who humbled himself to share our humanity, your Son Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
