Grace: It's Our Way of Life

As Episcopal Christians we
Worship at home daily and together weekly;
Study the Scriptures, our tradition, and what it means to be a disciple today;
Serve our families, our parish, and our world in the name of Christ.

Everything we do is done with an ethic of Welcome
because we are only here by Grace.

Sermon, Pentecost 6, Proper 8, Year C, 30 June 2013 - Putting on the Mantle and Putting off the Gorilla Mind

Sermon by the Very Rev. Daniel P. Richards on the Mantle of Christ, coming back to a theme on one the earliest sermons on this website.  It is a powerful look at these three texts, Elisha taking up Elijah's mantle, Paul's pericope on the flesh and the Spirit, and the call of Christ and its cost.

2 Kings 2:1-2, 6-14
Psalm 77:1-2, 11-20
Galatians 5:1, 13-25
Luke 9:51-62

The Collect
Almighty God, you have built your Church upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone: Grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their teaching, that we may be made a holy temple acceptable to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
