Grace: It's Our Way of Life

As Episcopal Christians we
Worship at home daily and together weekly;
Study the Scriptures, our tradition, and what it means to be a disciple today;
Serve our families, our parish, and our world in the name of Christ.

Everything we do is done with an ethic of Welcome
because we are only here by Grace.

Sermon, Pentecost IX, Year B, 29 July 2012 - No Temple but the Body of Christ

A sermon that looks at the question of What is the righteous mind? In our Gospel Jesus tells the crowd to "sit down" and offers something radically different. A God not appeased by the sacrifices of the Temple, but God known in Jesus as Abba who loves us and invites us to sit down and eat. Don't be distracted by the miracle. God provides, but even more God invites us into a whole different way of being with him. As disciples we are called to feed the world as his children. But that asks us to live with others differently because we live with God differently because of Christ.

2 Samuel 11:1-15
Psalm 14
Ephesians 3:14-21
John 6:1-21

The Collect

O God, the protector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: Increase and multiply upon us your mercy; that, with you as our ruler and guide, we may so pass through things temporal, that we lose not the things eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
