Grace: It's Our Way of Life

As Episcopal Christians we
Worship at home daily and together weekly;
Study the Scriptures, our tradition, and what it means to be a disciple today;
Serve our families, our parish, and our world in the name of Christ.

Everything we do is done with an ethic of Welcome
because we are only here by Grace.

Sermon, Pentecost VII, Proper 13, Year A, 2011 - Boots vs. Flip-flops

Sermon in which the Very Rev. Daniel P. Richards prepares the congregation for life on the narrow path beyond what the flip-flops of faith can stand as baptized members of the church, and reminds us also that God's bounty is surprising and boundless even in the desert. See the readings for the day plus Psalm 23.

There is a great book from Graham Standish called Becoming a Blessed Church: Forming a Church of Spiritual Purpose, Presence, and Power that is about this very way of living. Our vestry has read it, and I highly recommend it. He even has a book on Finding the Narrow Way.

Isaiah 55:1-5
Psalm 145: 8-9, 15-22
Romans 9:1-5
Matthew 14:13-21
