Sermon in which we are called to the images of Hebrews, not to Sinai to watch Moses go up alone and deliver, but to go up Mount Zion to the City of God, the New Jerusalem, where we will feast with Angels and walk with God as heirs to his Kingdom. And we must face the question, Does our worship lead us there? Does our worship bend us over or lift us up? Does it bind us or set us free?

This is my first visit to the 'Sounds Like Grace' blog. What a great way to reach people who missed the weekly sermon.
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot to unpack in your sermon--starting with the theme of active participation and the way that the Episcopalian traditions that we love can actually distance us from God. I like your message of inclusiveness and cooperation, and the call to positive action. Getting mad at the big box churches who do things differently doesn't solve anything.
We need to work on ourselves rather than pointing fingers at others. What does this mean for me personally? I'll have to give that some thought.
