Embracing the Cross - Second Sunday in Lent - Year B - 1 March 2015

Bronze sculpture of Jesus Christ by English sculptor Marcus Cornish. It was commissioned to mark the 50th anniversary of the Our Lady Immaculate and St Philip Neri Catholic Church in Uckfield, East Sussex and has been dubbed "Jesus in Jeans" by the media.



The Very Daniel P Richards proclaims the Gospel today noting that Jesus gives us four commandments: Get behind me; deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow me.

The Collect

O God, whose glory it is always to have mercy: Be gracious to all who have gone astray from your ways, and bring them again with penitent hearts and steadfast faith to embrace and hold fast the unchangeable truth of your Word, Jesus Christ your Son; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
