Grace: It's Our Way of Life

As Episcopal Christians we
Worship at home daily and together weekly;
Study the Scriptures, our tradition, and what it means to be a disciple today;
Serve our families, our parish, and our world in the name of Christ.

Everything we do is done with an ethic of Welcome
because we are only here by Grace.

The Holy Spirit and the Baptism of our Lord - Year B - 11 January 2015 - Je ne suis pas Charlie

The Very Rev Daniel P Richards begins his study on the Study of the Spirit in the context of the Baptism of Jesus.  We look briefly at the Spirit in Creation, Exodus, and Temple, then retrace our steps looking for Word and Wisdom.  We pick up themes of the Cross and Resurrection as well.  This sermon ties together our theology in the Holy Spirit.

Along the way he declares "Je ne suis pas Charlie!  I am not Charlie." As we learn to live in the resurrected New Life, New Creation, we must discern the good and turn away from the bad.  We love people, including both the provocateur at Charlie Hebda and the gunman in the mask, and as Christians, we have no choice.  We love both.  Learning to live in the love of Christ before all circumstances is the way of Christ, of Wisdom, of God.  It may cost us everything.

The Collect

Father in heaven, who at the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan proclaimed him your beloved Son and anointed him with the Holy Spirit: Grant that all who are baptized into his Name may keep the covenant they have made, and boldly confess him as Lord and Savior; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
