Grace: It's Our Way of Life

As Episcopal Christians we
Worship at home daily and together weekly;
Study the Scriptures, our tradition, and what it means to be a disciple today;
Serve our families, our parish, and our world in the name of Christ.

Everything we do is done with an ethic of Welcome
because we are only here by Grace.

Sermon, Last Epiphany, Year C, 10 February 2013 -- Deep Change and the Cost and Promise of Discipleship - Transfiguration

Sermon on the Deep Change necessary to become Disciples of Christ and the promises that we will be transformed. Taking the Gospel image and Paul's radical text that badmouths Moses for being a wimp, this text is hard hitting enough. But the promise is not that God will send a visionary leader, but that God will make us visionary leaders! We are called not just to listen to the one who has been to the mercy seat, but to have the mercy seat of the ark of the covenant within us and to meet God in the face of Jesus Christ.

And we will shine like the sun.

After the Sermon is the swearing in of the new Vestry of Grace with Announcements. There is a little more sermon and homework thrown in too.

The Collect

Gracious Father, whose blessed Son Jesus Christ came down from heaven to be the true bread which gives life to the world: Evermore give us this bread, that he may live in us, and we in him; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen
