Grace: It's Our Way of Life

As Episcopal Christians we
Worship at home daily and together weekly;
Study the Scriptures, our tradition, and what it means to be a disciple today;
Serve our families, our parish, and our world in the name of Christ.

Everything we do is done with an ethic of Welcome
because we are only here by Grace.

Sermon, Second Sunday of Advent, Year C, 9 December 2012 - Learning to Hear, Silence and the Voice in the Wilderness

Have you ever known thirst?  There are two kinds of thirst, crisis thirst and that ongoing sub-acute dehydration that most of us live with all the time.  Well, water is to our physical life what silence is to our spiritual life.  If we are to hear the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, we have to listen to the quiet.  This week's sermon has some tips about how, sips and drinks and walks, and also why.

Malachi 3:1-4
Canticle 16
Philippians 1:3-11
Luke 3:1-6

Merciful God, who sent your messengers the prophets to preach repentance and prepare the way for our salvation: Give us grace to heed their warnings and forsake our sins, that we may greet with joy the coming of Jesus Christ our Redeemer; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
