Grace: It's Our Way of Life

As Episcopal Christians we
Worship at home daily and together weekly;
Study the Scriptures, our tradition, and what it means to be a disciple today;
Serve our families, our parish, and our world in the name of Christ.

Everything we do is done with an ethic of Welcome
because we are only here by Grace.

Sermon, Pentecost XV, Proper 18, Year C, 2010

Okay, so this is a great set of texts, and I didn't get to touch on each of them in the course of the sermon. Hopefully you can hear where each text is shaping the total sermon. I wanted to sing "Mold me and make me" a great hymn for this text.

Proper 18, Year C, RCL

Jeremiah 18:1-11
Psalm 139:1-5, 13-17
Philemon 1-21
Luke 14:25-33

Change is hard. If you are being called to change to follow Christ, what is your plan to overcome the entropy of human nature?

  1. We both very much enjoyed and were challenged by the message today (..."Sorry.") and were able to rehash it with our dear friend, El, after the service. El is 99 years old and is so attuned to God's voice. He is a blessing to converse with, so it is lovely to be able to share the sermons and our perceptions of their apllications for us.
